Canada – Williston Lake – Mackenzie, BC

Triton was contracted by BGC Engineering Inc., to conduct an underwater survey of a portion of Williston Lake near Mackenzie, British Columbia. Williston Lake is a hydroelectric reservoir that was constructed in 1968 and covers a total area of 1,761 km2 and is the largest lake in British Columbia and the seventh largest reservoir (by volume) in the world.
Triton surveyed 32 hectares with an Imagenex 837B Delta T multibeam profiling sonar to identify the location of any submerged trees, stumps or other obstacles along a proposed pipeline corridor. The undertaking was part of TransCanada Pipeline Ltd.’s, Prince Rupert Gas Transmission Project. Triton executed a one day field survey that included a total of 8 transects to examine the area.
